Battery Current Sensors

  • Adjusts alternator output to improve fuel economy, increase energy system availability, and extend battery life by 10-20%

  • Identifies battery parameters such as state-of-charge, state-of-function, and state-of-health

  • Monitors the key-off current, which helps detect defective electronic components

Signs of Failure

When the battery current sensor fails, the vehicle will not charge correctly, leading to a DTC or a dead battery. Common signs of failure include:

  • Irregular charging rates

  • Low battery voltage

  • Corrosion on the battery or sensor connection

  • Broken or bare sensor cabling
